Ugh. My artwork is now in that 'fuck-it-this-is-never-gonna-work'-stage, so I'm giving up for today. Am not in a good mood to be creative anyway, let's blame that on the period, to at least get something out of that. *sighs*. Right. A weekly update... (Don't worry, it comes with a happy link to the adorable nephew, so it's not all blah;)
Sunday, Sept. 8.: Had planned to travel by train to the family get-together in The Hague (and do a bit of reading) but I had already discovered the day before that the rail-schedule was gonna be fucked up, due to incidents and broken equipment on both tracks towards the West. On top of that there was the mother of all rainstorms on Sundaymorning, which meant I wasn't gonna be able to cycle to the station and would have to depend on the Sunday-city-bus to get me there and back home later that night, making the whole journey even longer. So I swallowed my pride and decided to ask my mom and her partner for a ride, since they were going there by car. What? I know it seems odd to want to travel on my own while another part of the family is going in the same direction anyway, but *stomps feet* I like my indepence, okay.
Anyway, despite the lack of reading, it was a good journey and a great time was had by all. We went to the playground in the woods near the beach, where we played football and the adorable nephew showed us around. In the evening we walked to a Chinese restaurant nearby for a delicious dinner. (Sounds familiar? That's the same as my birthday; guess the other brother and I are not so different after all *grins*)
Photos of our family fun time (mostly the nephew;)
Monday, Sept 9.: Could talk about work, but won't. I handed in my written response to the events of last week and we're now apparently back to avoiding issues. Fine by me.
I contacted my building society about the mouse that I had heard, informing them there were probably more inside the walls. They told me they would send someone over to check the next day!
Tuesday, Sept. 10.: Another ridiculous rainstorm caught me when I went home early from work, hrmpf. Had enough time to dry myself before the man from the building society showed up. He brought glue for my windowsill and special filler to close up all possible mouse-entrances. So we didn't go hunting, we simply locked them out. Ha!
At night it was time for the most important part of my week: my favorite tv show The Great British Bake Off. YUM.
Wednesday, Sept. 11: Posted the annual WTF-comic after finding December snacks in the supermarket. The bakery next to my work has already started baking extra batches of speculaas. It smells delicious in my office, but I still think it's crazy and way too early for that. December 5th (Sinterklaas) is over 90 days away, WTF?
Thursday, Sept. 12.: Aargh, finished the last book on my readingpile. There is a book on the way, but until then it's back to loading my e-reader with fanfic. The burden.
Friday, Sept. 13: Huh, stories from the
salt_burn_porn are apparently not very suitable to read on the bus. I was not aware how blush-inducing they were. Hng. Fortunately at the end of the day my new book was delivered. *grins*
On the way home hormones and cropped up emotions joined together and forced me to cycle past the cheapest supermarket in town to buy a shitload of horrible snacks (fake chocolate, lousy crisps, etcetera). Don't ever do that again, self. Never. Again. If you must binge, at least buy the good stuff and make it a treat, not a punishment. Djeez.
Saturday, Sept. 14: Planned to do a lot, yet mostly hung online. Ordered new bunch of books (yay!), finished my designs for the
nickngreg challenge and did a bit of moderating. Ended the day on the couch after discovering that if I put the laptop on the coffeetable I could watch it laying down, just like the tv. Watched three episodes of Bad Education before bed. Good.
Sunday, Sept. 15.: Determined to actually get some stuff done, I started the day with dishes and cleaning my toilet and the bathroom-sink. Had meant to do more after my luxury shower, but got stuck online again. Made an attempt to do some arting with Simon Amstell's stand up playing in the background, but didn't get anywhere with my fiddling, so figured I might as well post about all myfailures fun from the past week.

Date: 2013-09-15 03:42 pm (UTC)I'm glad you went with your mom and her partner to the family get together and that you had a good time. You are one of the most independent people I know and I think that's great, bb. I wish I was more like you. I am finding I do very much like my own independence with a lot of 'me' time allowing me to do what I want when I want. :)
Yay for the 'lockout' of the potential mice. I'm sure there were more around as you said because where there's one there's always another and another and another.
Now I have the rest of the day to do something, which I want it to be writing. I've got a story I'm working on but I've hit a patch where I need to think about things a little so.... want to prompt me with any J2-ness? :P
ETA: Ahhh! Forgot to say thank you for sharing the photos of adorable nephew and family and the tree! :)

Date: 2013-09-15 04:03 pm (UTC)I so love traveling on my own, especially on the train where I can do the best reading. I'm looking forward to three days on the train in Australia, still need to decide on a book to bring!
Haven't heard any more mouse noises since we closed things off, so I hope they moved on
to my neighbours...My nephew is the cutest thing:)
Hmmm, oh my, a J2 prompt. Actually I've been thinking of JDM all day, after seeing Hilarie Burton's audition tape for Grey's Anatomy, where he did the reading with her. (he says hi at the end;)
I may have started a bit of a crush on her now as well. *distracted*
Right. J2. Maybe you can be inspired by the vid above (never know what J2 shenanigans may happen when the two of them prepare for a (movie?) role together;) or how about that quote at the end: "Wipe that smirk off your face". That could be any kind of AU of course :-p
