Dear artists in fandom-challenges: I do check out all creations, but if you post your art only on Tumblr, I can't comment on its awesomeness.
In addition to yesterday's woe is me post: I forgot to mention that my pincard (debetcard? the one you use in stores instead of money) was blocked in Australia. After using it succesfully in HongKong and Western Australia twice, I suddenly couldn't get cash anymore and it also didn't work in shops, so it was useless. Luckily I had my (emergency) creditcard with me, so I could at least continue my travels. When I finally was in reach of a computer again, I contacted my bank to ask what to do, they said the only solution was to apply for a new card, which wasn't really helpful, because -hello!- traveling at the other side of the world. (When I checked my account I also noticed my wages hadn't been paid yet, but since I had anticipated that, I had already transferred enough of my savings to my checking account before I left, so at least I didn't have to worry about running out of money. Good thing I had thought ahead, because I didn't get paid until January 7 and then the amount wasn't correct, but that's a whole other can of worms and part of the job-issues I won't get into, grrr.)
When I got home last week, I ordered a new card and once again emailed my bank about the issue and asked them to compensate the extra costs I made with my creditcard (use of an ATM is much more expensive) and if they had an explanation for the problem.
This bit may be important for others: they thought the block may have been caused by a machine that used the magnetic strip instead of the chip. Also (and this bit is important for me *g*): they are covering the difference in costs, wahey.
The story is not finished yet (can you tell I'm stalling to avoid getting actual work done today? There's a ten day's worth pile of dirty dishes in the kitchen)...
While I was waiting for my new pincard to arrive, I had to make do with the one 50 euro bill I had (I usually don't even carry cash anymore, but this had been a gift for my birthday) to get all my -been away for weeks and don't have anything in the house- groceries. And, I know I sound like a spoiled brat, but it was really confrontational to have to pay attention to what things cost. I'm fortunate to usually be able to buy what I want, not merely focus on what I need.
When my new card finally arrived, I couldn't use it right away because I had to activate it online first and then wait two days for that to take effect. Luckily I got to keep my pin, or so I thought... On Thursday I went to an ATM to try it and got the message that I had 'entered the wrong number'. WTF? When I got home I found a new pin in the (paper)mail. Huh. I was relieved to see it's an easy one to remember (I actually giggled when I saw the combination, hee). Yesterday I treated myself to a jar of peanutbutter and was finally able to buy a 2014 calender. I also bought pajamas, but they didn't fit, hrmpf. They are a men's size XL, dammit, but that's a woe for another time.
Dishes, here I come.

Date: 2014-01-18 01:23 pm (UTC)This, so very, very much. Tumblr is far from communication-friendly, and if you've got anything intelligent to say that goes beyond clicking a button, you're outta luck. I'll also go over there to look, but (IDK, maybe that's all the Tumblr "generation" expects is a "note" or "like" or whatver-the-hell it is?)
they thought the block may have been caused by a machine that used the magnetic strip instead of the chip.
*boggles* But that makes no sense. In North America, at least, chip vs. strip usage is about 60/40, with most places still using the strip. So if you use the chip at, say, Starbucks, and the strip at the store next door, you risk being disabled? That's either VERY poor design, or the customer service person was just casting about for an explanation.

Mmmm, peanut butter . . . *hungry*

Date: 2014-01-18 01:35 pm (UTC)I'm also probably using Tumblr wrong (don't even get me started on how people there use tags); I 'like' posts when I want to save them. My like-collection is there to make me happy, not to poke every single thing that is nice to look at.
Yeah, that strip comment weirded me out too; outside of the Netherlands I've always encountered cash registers that still use stripping instead of just sticking the card in the machine.
Peanutbutter is dangerous to have in the house (I am always tempted to just eat it out of the jar until it's empty) but I currently have a loaf of -white- cornbread and it just tastes so good on that:) Oooh, it's lunchtime. *runs to kitchen*

Date: 2014-01-18 01:34 pm (UTC)And may I just say... yay!!! to you signing up for more challenges. Always love seeing work from you. I signed up for the bigbang challenge as well *crosses fingers that I'll actually get my fic done this year*
And I owe you a J3 fic where JDM is thankful, don't I? ;P I haven't forgotten. I've got thoughts on it, just need to start writing it. If you want some input into it, please don't be shy and let me know what you would like to see. :D

Date: 2014-01-19 09:33 am (UTC)YOU WILL TOTALLY FINISH YOUR BB-FIC AND IT WILL BE AWESOME! *waves pompoms*
Ahw, you don't 'owe' me anything, but JDM is always welcome of course. It would be an extra bonus if you could get him to do some nape-kissing (either one of the Js, although I personally think Jensen's neck has easier access) *grins*
