After I decided to step away from one of my favorite art challenges, I felt a little lost. So I was very happy with the new bimonthly
spn_cinema project! Especially since it offers a short turn-around and posting time, which is just the kind of schedule my muse and I need. When the chosen genre for the first round was revealed to be The eighties I knew there would be filmprompts to my liking. Those were my teen-years, people, tons of films with fond memories:)
My goal was to play in Photoshop (if you can't see what I did, I did it right;) and not to overthink things. I ended up fiddling in Illustrator as well, if only because I'm more familiar with it. I did not succeed in the 'less is more' look I was aiming for, but the guys were at least a nice distraction from the mess that is real life right now. I hope they offer you the same:)
May I present:

Title: Project InnerSpace
Medium: Photoshop and Illustrator
Movie Prompt: Innerspace (1987)
Pairing: Jensen/Jeff with a hint of Jensen/Jared
Rating: G!
Concept: After one drunken display too many, cocky lieutenant Jeff "JD" Morgan is kicked out of the army and his long time partner, journalist Jensen Ackles, breaks up with him. JD signs up to be the pilot of a secret science project. He will be miniaturized to be injected in a rabbit to do research from the inside! Just as the experiment is on its way, the lab is attacked. The projectleader manages to escape with the syringe and during the chase mini-Jeff is accidently injected in the body of passerby Jared Padalecki...
Posters
No fancy paperpuppets this time*, only character poster designs of my favorite SPN guys.
(Click image to zoom - the pink outline is to make the images stand out in my black LJ background;)
I tried to give each poster the feel of the character's experience in the film: the hero, the love interest or the comedy side-kick. You decide who's who!

BONUS
The posters above were initially much more elaborate and included manipulated scenes to illustrate the story. These were discarded in favor of cleaner portraits:

:)
Credits
Thank you,
cassiopeia7 for prompting the film (one of the rules is that you can't pick your own prompts, but I'd love to see what you would have done with this;) and giving me a reason to watch this classic again.
Kudos to Dennis Quaid, Meg Ryan and Martin Short, who play the original characters in Innerspace, they are such fun!
Source post to follow (I know y'all only check if I hide porn there*, but I still need to write it for my own conscience;)
As always, comments are love (possibly not literally, but feel free to express confusion or dislike, those responses are welcome too!).

Jared's expression!), the font you chose, and most of all, that delightfully perky hypodermic and its "cargo."
THIS IS WONDERFUL! *applause*

Date: 2014-11-01 07:40 pm (UTC)Deciding on a font was harder than I thought. I tried to make the designs feel as spacey as possible and played with the shape of the syringe and Jeff's flyingmachinge so the image could be interpreted in different ways.
Jeff's expression is my favorite; that smug smile, hngh.

Date: 2014-11-01 07:54 pm (UTC)Jensen was the hardest choice because a journalist looks just like a regular guy;) I couldn't resist Jeff's smirk, I even have a couple of those in my collection with the same expression. I also had a lot of wacky Jareds to choose from, but I really liked how his eyes looked in this one. (And it only required minimum photoshopping;)

Date: 2014-12-17 12:02 pm (UTC)You do such a good job telling the story with your art. I love the cockiness that comes through on Jeff's poster. And Jensen's and Jared's face on each of theirs is so perfect!!
And the bonus! Eeeeeee! I was so excited to see that, too! Love, love, love that pic of Jeff! And Jared in that car and J2 holding the x-ray! Soooooo much fun!!
You, my dear, are brilliant and fun and awesome!!!! ♥

Thank you bb, for making my day with this comment:)
