WIP artproject 2014: part 7

Weeeeell, I do believe I finished my JDM WIngs project! I had such fun with Jeff today, but he's being a tough model to shoot, so I won't reveal what he looks like until after I've played with him some more tomorrow. *grins* To make up for making y'all wait, I'm offering an extra long final(!) look behind the scenes...
If you missed previous parts of this project, here are all the making of posts:
wingsWIP 1 - wingsWIP 2 - wingsWIP 3 - wingsWIP 4 - wingsWIP 5 - wingsWIP 6
Now, without further ado... Part 7!
Previously on the wingsWIP: I finished cutting the pattern on the first wing...

You can really see the details on my lighttable.\o/ (Click to zoom; that goes for all pics:)
I gave the second wing a different pattern; it's stretched out a little more, so the feathers move differently. That's my theory anyway;) I'm using the bonefolder to push the topfeathers up to curve them a bit.

I still haven't figured out how to attach the wings though...

The idea is to connect them in between the front and back part of Jeff. I experiment with different types of thread and test sewing with fishing line. I end up having to make three holes to steady the wings.
Now that's sorted, it's time to colour Jeff! I'm going to use my favorite messy method of melting crayons again1.

As I'm not sure how this glittery paper will react, I make colour samples first. The thick paper needs to be very hot to the point of smoking a bit for it to work. Of course Jeff is wearing blue jeans. Bare feet are my weakness.

I want the shirt to be soft looking, not as sturdy as the jeans. So while the melted crayon is still hot, I rub it out (hehehe) with a tissue.

No jokes. The boneholder is simply used to make the hooded shirt fall over the jeans. I did the same with the hoodie and the sleeves. Then it's time to attach the wings for real!

One wing on \o/ The front of Jeff will be put on top later...

First I need to sew on the other wing.... Tadaah! Nearly there:)
To be revealed tomorrow!! Are you as excited as I am? *bounces* -->ARTPOST IS UP!
I'm off to continue preparations for my
super_disney design; I've already watched my claimed film The Nightmare Before Christmas, now I have to rewatch a certain episode of Supernatural. FOR RESEARCH.
