ARTWORK! Guardian Angel Jeff

I first dreamed up the idea of Jeffrey Dean Morgan with wings somewhere in 2013. I had planned to create him as a prompt for the ReverseBang, but then the trip to Australia happened and I just couldn't give him my full time and attention. When the 2014 RB schedule didn't agree with me, I decided to do this project as a personal challenge. It took longer than I had originally planned and I'd like to thank everyone who responded to the WIP posts for encouraging me to finish it;) I'm proud to present Guardian Angel Jeff!

Material: sparkling Ice Cold (white, 300 g/m² ) paper from the Curious Metallics collection. Colouring was done with melted (heated) crayons (=wax;)
Tools/Technique: paper was cut using a simple, small exacto knife; the wings were connected with fishing line; the front and back body were glued together.

Out of the 154 photos and two videos I made to try and capture paper Jeff, I selected 9 photos, created two gifs and picked one video to share below the silhouette teaser...

First photoshoot was in front of my wall to catch the shadow.


Different effects of the light through and on the wings.


With the backlight from the lighttable you can see the papercut details even better


I've turned the turbo light on for the gif from the back:)


Subtle folding creates an extra 3D effect:) - The photoshoot on the balcony was quite windy.

Oh, angel!Jeff is BEAUTIFUL! I love the sheer amount of detail on those wing feathers, and the shots of Jeff in the clouds, but it's the vid that really, really won me over. He really looks like he's flying, and in a couple of angles, it seems like his wings are actually flapping. Wonderful! All of your hard work was totally worth it. Brava!!

Oh my goooosh, winged!Jeff. Those wings are so, so detailed, I loved the silhouette/backlit pictures that really show where the light comes through. Such fine work!

But I loved the video most of all, he seems so happy to be flying there! Flyyyy, Jeffrey, flyyyy, be free! (But not really because that would be a waste of hard work!)

<3 The backlit pics are my favorite. Jeff did nearly fly away, there was a wicked wind, so I had to cut my outdoors photoshoot short. Glad I made the video though, it's probably the best way to show a 3D paperpiece;)

:-D Thank you! He turned out a bit younger than intended, but the wings surprised me even more *grins* Pro-tip: don't take photos on a windy balcony without securely tightening the subject. Pfff, that was scary.

*beams* I hadn't intended to make a video, but Jeff was fluttering too much for steady photos;) I did worry he would fly off, the wind on my balcony was crazy!

Those wings are magnificent, and I love the idea of Jeff as a guardian angel. Bet he'd watch over Jensen and Jared. Again, I enjoyed seeing the process and the video was fun.
