US Roadtrip - final part! [8/8]
Oct. 11th, 2015 02:05 pmAaahw, we've reached the last four days of our roadtrip; they are mostly filled with traveling home. First
tmn1966 and I drove from Chicago back to her place and then the final two days are me flying back to the future to Amsterdam airport Schiphol and taking the train back to my apartment. In between we had a whole day left for hanging out together outside of the car, which we of course spent fangirling on the couch. *grins* But most of the photos below were taken on the road. Are you ready to join us one more time?

I know I already gushed about the fancy carpet, but couldn't resist another close up of the pretty pattern on our way to breakfast. I also adore how organized this Best Western Motel was; look at the cute utensil holders.

The last breakfast on the road does not disappoint: all the things PLUS a waffle maker \o/ My eyes were bigger than my stomach, but after my first failed attempt at the beginning of our trip, I had to try and bake a whole waffle;) SUCCES! *fistpump*

Right after leaving Chicago we crossed the border of Indiana. Once again we had no stops in this state: we cruised along the highway right across to Ohio.

HELLO OHIO! First destination: the airport, to see if they did indeed find my backpack and kept it safe...

Final shot of the sky from the car; I so enjoyed the magnificent views on this roadtrip. <3
HELLO BACKPACK, so good to see you again. What happened to you? *smishes* The zipper was bent and one tin with Dutch stroopwafels was damaged, but the rest of the content was fine, pfew. So I could finally sort out the souvenirs I brought for T. and all the other fangirls we met.

After a trip to the postoffice to sent out souvenirs, we drove to the Carwash which had a hands on team of cleaners. Only the Drive In Cinema on Route 66 was a more American experience, heehee. (I made so many pictures of the car going through, you don't want to know;)

We had lunch at Mulligan's with T's boss and then we went back home for a dose of fangirling. *chinhands* We watched Extant and a couple of Supernaturals:)

For dinner we went to the Golden Corral, which offers a MASSIVE buffet of all the food you can imagine and more. I had a blast sampling all the things (meatloaf! dumplings! pizza! pasta! etc!) and of course also had all the desserts. COTTON CANDY, people. (and yes, there are gummibears on that plate too:) Gosh, that was FUN.

This is it. After another session of Supernatural, I'm all packed and (not) ready to leave. *sniffles*
tmn1966's sister P. drove us to the Cleveland airport, so T. and I could do some final chatting in the back seat without having to pay attention to traffic. OF COURSE THEN CARRY ON WAYWARD SON CAME ON THE RADIO, OF COURSE. *bawls*

Let's see if United can get me and my bags back on the same planes this time...
Bye Ohio. *waves*

Changing planes in Chicago. I even had to go through security again, djeebus. But was very pleased to see this huge Brachiosaurus from the Field Museum on display. Cool!

Psychedelic walkway to the international part of the airport.
Couldn't tell if my backpack made the transfer... Fingers crossed;)

Bye Chicago, bye America *waves*. I watched Kingsman on my phone (through United's wifi media service), had a snack, dinner and slept a bit.

Breakfast right before reaching the Netherlands. Hello, my darling potato-country.

I'm welcomed by a storm; I don't know if it ever stopped raining since I left;) Luckily I can get to the train without going outside. My mom picked me up with her car, so I didn't have to travel the last bit on the bus and could immediately share travelstories, yay!

My souvenirs. Oooh, forget to tell you I got a spiderpen from the lady at the postoffice, isn't it awesome? - I drew our whole roadtrip with red marker on the placemat I made. I can't believe how many miles
tmn1966 drove.
THANK YOU, BB. *smishes you from afar* This was such a badass vacation. *waves one last time to all the fangirls we met* I'll treasure the memories for ever.
Fandom rocks. Thanks for coming along:)
