2015: my fanart
Jan. 1st, 2016 06:39 pmHappy New Year Y'all! My best wishes for 2016, may it be a better year than the last one:)
I ran out of time and space yesterday to add to my end of year post, so below there's a list of all the fanart I made in 2015. If you've missed any of this, I'd love for you to come over and check it out; comments are always welcome (even if you want to point and laugh) *grins*
In 2015 I made more fanart than ever before! Strangely enough there were less collaborations, but I joined two new challenges and tried new materials and techniques on top of returning to my old love clay and my continued experiments with papercutting. It's been fun:)
An overview of 2015
As promised, here are my personal answers to the fandom-questions I asked:
What social media did you start or stop using in 2015?
Since I got my mobile/smart phone in March, I've been spending even more time online. I find the LiveJournal app frustrating to comment with, so I really need to remind myself to revisit posts when I get to my computer. I may not always succeed, but I still do try to comment on every piece of art on my flist and all the stories I read, no matter how old they are.
I definitely spent more time on Twitter, because that platform is really made for a phone. Although now that they've been messing with the visibility of photos again, I often find myself wishing I could quit, but I just love rolling around in fandom there.
Tumblr is my most passive experience; I do not follow a lot of fandom related people there and never interact beyond putting pretty on my like-list.
(If you're looking for me: I have the same name on Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, AO3, Dreamwidth, YouTube and possibly other places I don't remember right now. I'm not on Facebook)
Were you more or less involved with fandom this year as a result of that?
I started following more fanpeople on Twitter, it's been fun reaching out:) On LJ I feel I lost touch a little, but that's probably because the J2_SPN_BigBang was the only collaboration challenge I participated in this year, so I mostly fiddled with the boys by myself. I'd love to do more story-based art, but my current JDM obsession makes me very picky :-p
Do you prefer to comment or rather leave kudos or hearts or likes?
I still prefer to give comments as I LOVE to receive those myself, even if it's just "I love this"; it's so nice to get a personal response. I do sometimes only leave a kudo on AO3 stories and I totally get that it's sometimes hard to find the words or even the time to leave a (thought out) comment, but despite the decline in reactions to artposts, I'm glad LiveJournal still lacks a like-button. It's the interaction that I still love on this platform. *clings*
I also hate that Twitter turned it's "star" into a "heart", because I feel it changed the function of marking tweets. Before I felt people would star a tweeted link to an artpost to remind themselves to check out the tweetlink later, now it appears to be that "hearting" actually means: "Yeah, I saw that and loved it, mkay bye". At least that's what I think after receiving lots of hearts on my artpostlink last week from people I don't know... Or maybe I'm just too impatient and there will be rush on my LJ in a few days ;-)
Any input is appreciated! I for one am -once again- determined to be more active on LiveJournal. If I missed anything and you want me to take a look at personal posts, artwork or fic, let me know!
Last but not least: I made a new sticky post that is also my readinglist for 2016:)
