Hey, remember that roadtrip through the USA I did with [livejournal.com profile] tmn1966 last Summer? And how after my flight was cancelled last minute I had to arrange a whole new intinerary and lost a day? And how United Airlines then managed to lose my bag? And how I had to buy replacement clothes and toiletries and everything to still be able to actually do the roadtrip? Remember? Well, when I got back in August, I immediately send them an "interim expenses reimbursement claim" (by fax as United Airlines don't have an e-mail for this and I didn't want to send all my original receipts by snailmail). That was six months ago. In between I contacted them through Twitter to get confirmation on those faxes and in December I managed to find a customerservice mail-account to which I sent them a reminder of my claim.
Two weeks ago (!) I received a mail from customerservices with apologies for the delay in response and a request to confirm that I still had not received a reimbursement so they could investigate what went wrong. I replied immediately and then continued to wait. This weekend, six months and a week after I sent them the form, I finally got my money! Woohoo!

More good news: I'm still doing that 30 Days Shred Challenge and two days ago I managed to actually grab my own foot to do the final stretch exercise for the cool down. I don't think I'll ever be able to do it as instructed with the opposite hand -as demonstrated by Jared below- but when I started I had to first put my leg up on the couch before I could even reach my foot and I can now do it like Jensen:

So go me! *beams*

Last but not least: a little more information about that new job:) I wasn't sure if I could talk about the project in public, but seeing as there is full disclosure on the company's website, I figured it's okay to share:) I will be working for the Cadaster in my town; that's where they keep a register of real estate and property-bounds. Currently they are working in collaboration with 28 other countries on the Multinational Geospatial Co-production Program to collect geographical data of regions all over the world based on recent satelite images.
I will be one of the people who will interprete these pictures and turn them into maps. I will learn how to use a special drawing program; I already got to do a little test run during my interview and I'm just so fascinated by the whole project. I'm also very happy to have a job again, even if for now it's only for a couple of weeks; it will depend on government funding whether the project will continue after that. Even if that doesn't happen, the new experience will be valuable and completely worth the possible limitations on my unemployment benefits.

You only got it now? Maaaan. But yay for money!

Whoo, go you! I'm still so in awe that you are doing that shred challenge. *pompoms*

Hahaha, that gif. They move so in sync. :')

That job sounds really interesting. I hope for you that it'll be a little longer then a few weeks, but like you said, the experience will be valuable. :D

I honestly hadn't expected it anymore, such a great surprise:)

(I snuck a peek at Level 3 this afternoon and AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAArgh! Keep waving those pompoms, please)

I'm so excited about that job. Can't wait to get started!

Ah, I'm going to sound crazy, but I almost love when a place takes so long to get you money that a part of you gives up and then the money actually shows up and it's almost like surprise!money.

Congratulations on your stretching! I bet you WILL be able to do it the Jared way, if you keep at it. I can do what Jared does there--I'm bendy like Jared, but not fast like Jensen. ;___;

That new project sounds really cool (I became SUCH a nerd about real estate when I was shopping for my apartment--almost a year later I still sneak off sometimes to look at listings XD)!! Congratulations on landing it! I really hope it does get extended, but I love the positive attitude you're approaching it with! A wonderful experience and new skills no matter what happens in the end. :D

Not crazy at all; I had already decided to give up on it after I sent them that reminder in December and hadn't expected to hear from United at all so it really is surprise!money and it's awesome:)

THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID! Gosh, Jared was sassy at NashCon wasn't he? Dorks. (I'll have to rewatch the shivering while reading "scripts", because those re-enactments seemed super naughty, esp. Jensen's;)

I'm very excited about the new job. Imagine playing with Google Earth all day long \o/

Yay for getting reimbursed! It doesn't make up for the inconvenience, but at least you got the money back.

And your job sounds awesome! In fact, it sounds suspiciously like what I'm teaching this semester...what software are you using?

I was pleasantly surprised United came through after all;)

I will be working with the ArcGIS Platform (ESRI) - I already got to play with Arcmap for a bit as part of the interview, very cool!

Hi there. I follow you on Twitter and sort of link-followed you to your LJ. Congrats on what sounds like a really interesting job! And on the Shred Challenge, which I can't even imagine doing. Impressive.

The NashCon stuff was great, wasn't it?
