Women's March in Amsterdam
Jan. 21st, 2017 10:00 pmThis afternoon I went to Amsterdam to join the Women's March; I had been hesitant to go because of my issues with people, but the past few weeks (months...) I've felt so sad and angry and powerless with what's happening in politics all over the world, that I just had to DO something. Consider this my first step in the resistance!
When I mentioned to brotherdearest I was coming to Amsterdam for the March, he asked where I wanted to meet up, so he could join me. That made me a happy and proud big sister:)
Here is a selection of photos I made of the crowd, the signs and the pretty pink hats \m/

Meet up at the IAmsterdam sign (that you can barely see through the crowd that's already there:)
We walked around the ice skating at the art square to get a good view of all the people.
(That building is the Rijksmuseum, home of Rembrandt's Nightwatch.)

Excellent hats and signs, I'll let you enjoy the rest without comment. As always: click to zoom!

Gathering on Museumplein hill to make a group selfie \o/

When the crowd left the hill, we climbed up to watch them march towards the American Consulate, where everyone could leave a message on a banner.

Last but not least: my favorite signs:)
When we reached the hill at the end of Museumplein, I also shot a short video:
I'm so glad I went to the March, it felt wonderful to see so many people who share my feelings and fears. We will not be silenced!

Date: 2017-01-22 05:02 pm (UTC)Of course, all of these numbers (protesters and lack of people at the inauguration) are FAKE NEWS. They're wrong. Just WRONG. It's so SAD. The media is just trying to lie to the people. Trump knows better. Trump knows the truth. THE NUMBERS ARE WRONG.
(You gotta love the vehemence with which Trump's team is now attacking the media for "falsifying the numbers". *boggles*)
