Ahw, it's the final travelpost of the year! My cruise to Norway was supposed to last until Friday September 9, with the day before being spent at sea. But due to logistics (personel and low water tides) at the IJmuiden Marine Lock we had to go through that on Thursday afternoon already, so we would arrive back in Amsterdam on Thursday evening. Now, I had originally planned to maybe meet up with brotherdearest for the evening, but I wanted to spend the last night onboard and enjoy a final breakfast before definite disembarking. But when I was sorting out my check-out for Friday-morning, I discovered Dutch Rail personnel had organised another strike on Friday, making it impossible for me to travel back home by train. So, instead I arranged for a check-out after dinner on Thursday evening. Of course I didn't leave until I had made the absolute best of my last day aboard:) There were some very cool sights this day and possibly the most amazing dessert of the whole cruise...!
Day 9: A Sea day back to Amsterdam

Good morning, elevator, thanks for letting my know it's Thurday (September 8). I slept in, but of course got up on time to have my last breakfast a la cart in the fancy Tides restaurant. (It's about 08:30;) While I'm waiting for my order, I pick a donut from the breadbasket that's going around.

Oh look, another pastry pick before my real breakfast arrives:) Toast, sausages, (not the tomato, meh) a hash brown and a ham & cheese omelet, omnomnom.

After breakfast I spend some time in my cabin, tracking the ship's journey across the North Sea. Then I go to the center and climb the magic stairs to find a lovely seat to watch today's event...

A cake decorating competition between the director of entertainment, the captain and the head chef (the latter won ofcourse, although the captain had made a nice attempt of creating the ship's logo out of whipped cream:)
Mirror selfie with the glorious carpet in the lounge.

Went back to my cabin to read and then the captain got all excited on the sound system again: he had spotted a submarine! Of course he had to race it and we won, haha :-D

Because today's a sea day, lunch was served a la cart as well! Got myself an awesome windowseat, whoopwhoop!

For Starters I had Mozzarella Sticks, and for my Main Course I chose Fried Chicken and Waffles

I also created my own dessert out of the last bit of waffles, that I sprinkles with sugar :-p
My real Dessert was Crema Catalana (dulce de leche custard topped with caramelized sugar) Mmmm.

Walked around the ship for a final bit of art appreciation and windowshopping at the jewelry shop;)
Artwork Landscapes I & Landscapes II by Birgitta ten Berge (NLD, 1962)

Did some reading on the balcony and started packing (bye convenient cornercabinet in the bathroom)

I will miss you, precious room with balcony. Not leaving yet, so I can enjoy the views a little longer. Can you see what I see?

One of the many windturbine parks at sea!
In the afternoon I go to the cinema, one final spot of the ship I wanted to experience:)

Of course there is fancy carpet in here as well. I get a great middle seat and watch The Lost City (fun!).

Around six p.m. we arrive at the IJsselmuiden docks and since we're in the Netherlands again, I call my brother to arrange to meet up tonight:)
The North Sea Canal is very busy and I enjoy watching the ships go by from my balcony.

*chinhands* Look at this rig, how cool is that!

Lots of green views as well <3

I just love these waterways so much, y'all.

*happy sighs*

Okay, getting close to Amsterdam harbour now; going from the North Sea Canal to the IJ river.

Around eight p.m. I walk along the deck to the restaurant. Remember that glorious building? It's the Pontsteiger hotel at the IJ river.
Time for the last dinner on board, last guess!

I have to get up to take a photo when we pass Amsterdam trainstation, we're close to docking, but I'm going to focus on my dinner;)
Starter is Lentil Soup.

Main Course: Aged Prime Rib of Beef (slow-roasted ribeye)
Dessert: Dark Chocolate Brownie with caramel sauce and torched meringue. THE BEST DESSERT OF THIS TRIP, I didn't expect the level to get even higher, my goodness!

And then it's time to leave; I take a last look from my balcony (at the A'DAM tower in the distance).
Bye towel swan *snifles*

All (back)packed and ready to go. One last glamour shot, bye cruise, I had a blast.
The End:)
