Read a comment on Tumblr today from someone who had just discovered the Jensen Ackles/Jeffrey Dean Morgan pairing and who was wondering what the name for that ship was. /o\ Don't tell me there is one. I hate those cutesy combo names that make the people in a relationship sound like some freaky hybrid.

The name for that pairing is Jeff/Jensen. Or Jensen/JDM. Or just plain "guh!" But please, no cutesy crap. Just NO.

Several people have explained to me that the reason for the stupid-sounding combo names is because Tumblr doesn't allow for slashes. Meh, just one more reason for me to avoid that place.

. . . and if you ever find out the "cutesy" name for Jensen/JDM? DO NOT TELL ME! ;)

I prefer JDM for Jeff, mainly because I got into this fandom through college fics in which often Jared's brother played the part of Jensen's roommate or best bud. To avoid confusion I will always use JDM or Jeffrey Dean Morgan in full:)

I thought the combo-names were already floating around on LJ and other fan hangouts before Tumblr got popular, but either way that's a stupid reason for silly names. *huffs*

It's quite possible this pairing lucked out because it's impossible to combine the names, but I'd like to think this corner of fandom is simply too cool to join the trend *grins* (They are my favorite:)

Hehehe oh, the portmanteaus. The ones in the above comment made me laugh hysterically. "I'm going to read some cockles", really? Muahahah.

(Though, I will graciously admit that one of my favorite TV couples ever, Logan and Veronica on Veronica Mars, had the cutest portmanteau ever: LoVe. Juuuust saying *g*

(Also, true story, Ryan Murphy tried to make the term 'Blatina' happen for a pairing on Glee, and when I typed it into the search engine I got nothing but black/latina porn :p. Let this be a lesson to smushy names everywhere!!
